I received a council tax bill for a new liability starting from 03 August 2012. The property in question has been tenanted by the same person since 2009 - so I was a bit surprised. I phoned the council and it appears that my tenant informed them that he was leaving the property on 02 August. I received the monthly rent on 09 June but nothing in July. (he also has other arrears).

Can you tell me how to proceed? I received the council letter on 28 August. I am prepared to pay for the person to be found and to take court action...I need to know what dates to put on such papers.
