Hi,
this is really a query on behalf of a friend.

My friend lived with her husband and 3 kids in a one-bedroom flat. The husband went abroad in June and has since abandoned her. Until this point all bills were paid on time. All bills and the lease were in his name alone. She has no income and is now in arrears - or is she?

In other words, is she liable to pay the rent arrears since the lease is in her husband's name - and if so, can you explain why?
