Hi,

I have just been for a regular inspection and found a largish damp patch on the top floor ceiling that does notn look very recent as there is very evident discoloration.
I shall check the loft for possibe roof damage, but whatever the cause I wonder if I could claim any compensation if a professional will confirm that the damage has been going on for some time while it was not reported, so that it has become more serious and possibly more expensive to fix.
The AST mentions that any damage should be reported as soon as possible, and the top floor has two bedrooms that are used regularly, so it must have been visible for some time.

Any advice?

Many thanks
