Do I need to serve 2 months notice
Possession - Section 8 and Section 21

I have a tenant in one of my flats who I now want to leave, he has lived there over 5 years. I served section 21 at start of the tenancy when he first moved in. As I have allowed his tenancy to continue such a long time after fixed 6 months ended and is now periodic does the initial section 21 still stand and I can ask him to leave or do I need to issue another section 21 giving 2 months notice?
