Letter Retracting a Section 21 Notice

Mid way through a 12 month contract, a Section 21 Notice is served to a tenant due to non payment of rent, stating that the notice will remain in force unless payment is made immediately.Payment is then made in full and the following month's rent is paid in full and on time.

Is it necessary to send another letter advising that the notice has been retracted?

Is the tenant still liable for the remaining months rentals?
