I have some good students on an AST. They want to stay on in the house for a second year. My understanding is that it is illegal for a landlord to have the same tenant on another AST even if it is in a different property. Is this correct? If so, what sort of a lease do I need? Are there any other implications or pitfalls? I presume I still need to serve notice 2 months prior to the end of the current tenancy?
