I have a portfolio of properties let on an AST basis and am now purchasing my first property specifically for holiday letting. I am planning to have the property ready by the beginning of May and have lined up an agent to do the marketing. However, if it fails to let for the prerequisite 10 weeks in the first year, can I still claim tax relief on the setup and ongoing costs this year? If not, can these costs be carried forward to next year and, if necessary following years?
Can you also please recommend one or more websites which provide detailed information on all aspects of holiday letting?
