I seem to find conflicting advice whether a deposit held in a custodial scheme can be witheld to cover unpaid rent when a tenant leaves or can only be used to cover damage etc - can anyone clarify? Does it depend on the specific wording of the individual AST? I would be very grateful if anyone knows.
