Hi all,

I purchased a flat in auction with an existing tenant on a 12 month AST. The AST ended in May 2007, and is therefore holding over. He paid his deposit to the previous owner, who has since gone bankrupt (hence the auction sale). Therefore the deposit was never in a scheme. Am I liable to refund the deposit when he vacates the property now that I am the new owner, or will he have to give me a new deposit, and try to get his original deposit from the previous landlord?
Many thanks all.....
