HI All

Can anybody tell me about whether you can use 2 months advanced rent instead of using a deposit. The reason i am asking is that i have a large number of tenants who may only require a 1 or 2 month tenancy. Another landlord has informed me that it is illegal to take 2 months rent as the courts would see this is a one months deposit and one months rent. Thanks for your time
