Tenant has given notice in accordance with AST, official end of tenancy is 23.03.12 where we will conduct our check out. The tenant is moving out although is refusing to hand back keys until the deposit has been returned, she expects the deposit back on the 23.03.12! Deposit is held by DPS and all relevant info was passed to tenant at start of tenancy. What can we do to prevent her from holding on to keys? Can we change the locks if she has moved her posessions out? We aim to return deposit through DPS after the check out (all being well) although DPS can take up to 5 working days to return so out of our hands.
