Good morning. I have a tenant who has majority of his rent paid by housing benefit, but should pay £12 per week on top of the HB. He has not done so since Jan, 2009, but he did previously. He is approx £250 in arrears, but he is refusing to pay either the arrears or any further payments. He has come up with lots of different excuses as to why he shouldn't pay. As I have just stopped using a local letting agent, so I sent the tenant a letter advising him how to pay his additional rent, the letter was to be signed for, but the tenant just refused to sign and sent it back to me, saying not known at this address. So the likelyhood is that he will not sign a Section 21 notice either. What is the best way to proceed? Thank you.
