I collected this deposit before the tenancy deposit schemes were introduced. I rarely keep any of the deposit but in this case I did. The tenants were not ready for inspection when I arrived at the agreed date and time so I inspected after they had left.
When I return the deposit minus £100 I did send a letter detailing what the £100 was for. I have just had a telephone call from one of the tenants saying that he has been in touch with a solicitor and the solicitor said he is entitled to ask for invoices. So could I send the invoices. Some cleaning materials are receipted some items came from stock items but much of the work was done using family members which is not invoiced. Where do I stand on this.
