In the situation where a deposit is paid to the landlords letting agent, at what time is the deposit deemed to have been received by the landlord for the purposes of the deposit protection legislation, when the agent receives it or when the agent pays it to the landlord?
If the deposit is paid to the agent by a third party, not the tenant, what are the landlord's responsibilities to the third party.

Thank you
