I live in the downstairs flat in a house I own. I want to let out the first floor/dormer self contained flat. I have been told that because I live in and it's my house then this type of tenancy cannot be an assured shorthold agreement.

Q) If an owner occupier lets a first floor flat in his or her house and gives what is a called a Ground 1 Notice to the tennant, then the tenancy is not an assured shorthold so instead I would be giving the tenant security of tenure, and this is not advisable.
