Thanks for your response Dave A. Sorry, I am confused; if I agree to their request would I become liable for anything and also for whatever reason if I need to terminate the tenancy would I face any other problems? Am I in a better position to have all names on the agreement rather than having only one name? Many thanks

From a legal perspective you can do as they wish.
However I am suspicious this may be a housing benefit fraud

Last year a tenancy agreement was done with all the names of the family members who resided in the house (Mother, father, 2 daughters and son) All except the son are over 18 years. They now want to renew the agreement in mums name only. I understand she is on income support. Are there any pitfalls if I do that or should I just leave the previous agreement to roll on? What is the best thing I should do? Your assistance in this matter is much appreciated.
