We have an existing number of tenants on housing benefit and the rent is paid to us directly.

We are about to sign a new tenant who is claiming housing benefit and we are aware that payment will now be via the tenant. This is a nightmare as our experience of the ability of existing tenants handling their own budget for other bills is problematic.I understand that the govn'mt is trying to make tenants more understanding of budgeting, but sadly this is often not one of their skills.

Under what circumstances can we ensure the benefit is paid directly to us by the council with the new tenant?
