In everyday language, I am indeed a resident landlord. My only doubt is the fact that the flat is in a separate building (a garage) from the house in which I live. Both buildings are clearly within my dwelling.

In more detail, the flat is a self-contained annexe to my detached garage, which is connected to my house (a detached bungalow) by an archway through which gas, electicity and water services pass (i.e. the annexe is partially attached to the house and shares services with it, which I plan to recharge to the tenant).
