I have been presented by my son with a request to be his guarantor on a joint and several tenancy involving six students. I will ensure his rent is paid but is likely that if I was actually to be persued for rents not paid by his friends that the letting agency would win in court? As a landlord myself I have generally only made the parent responsible for their own child. I hear from other landlords that making each parent responsible for all the rent is normal I am surprised they get many guarantors.
