We were letting one of our properties through a letting agency for some time before taking it over ourselves. Just before this happened, the letting agency instructed a local builder to carry out some repair works to the bathroom and kitchen to the tune of £1,000 (they obtained two quotes and we picked one - didn't know the builder). The work he did was substandard and has caused further damage and we are now having to pay for his work to be redone less than a year in by a builder that we have got to know and trust. The original builder is refusing to give us a refund and refuses to speak to us. Do we have any comeback from the letting agency as they recommended this builder?
