Hi, wonder if you could help me.

I am managing a number of HMO properties. These properties are not licensed as they do not meet the criteria of being 3 stories high with 5 or more tenants. We do however work with the local authority to meet standards of an HMO.

The landlord is being forced to pay the council tax on all of these buildings although the HMO regs (I believe) says that this is not the case and that council ta should only be paid by the landlord on Licenced HMO buildings.

Could you please give me some guidance on this as it appears a little confusing and is of course costing a small fortune.

Many thanks
