My STA is with my tenant (not the Local Authority) and states rent payable calendar monthly in advance. However, since tenant now divorced and on benefits, the Local Authority pays the rent directly to me on behalf of the tenant. The Loacal Authority insists that according to statute they may only pay rent 4-weekly in arrears. Is there a statute stating rent from a Local Authority may only be paid in arrears? If so please can you advise me of the relevant statute?
