One of my properties has undergone a lengthy re-furbishment (Jan - Aug ) and obviously has been unavailable for letting . It had been let on a AST before hand and from September of this year .
I offset the interest proportion of my mortgage against income for taxation each year , however i am a bit surprised to hear from my Accountant that as the property was unavailable for rent during the refurb i am unable to offset the Jan-Aug proportion of the interest .
All advice appreciated !
