Hi there,
OUr new property is almost ready to let and we have tennants lined up to move in on 16th Oct - checks etc are in process.
My concern is actually about a neighbour who does not seem to like what we are doing. The property is a new build and parking spaces are at a premium. We are laying the front garden as a permeable grass drive to allow an extra off road parking space. I have checked and so long as it is permeable we do not need planning permission.
The neighbour objects to this and is causing problems. Two people we asked to provide a quote have refused because this gentleman is very unpleasant. I am sure that we have lost prospective tennants too.
I have checked the covenants relating to the property and they say the front garden must be maintained and you cannot park a boat or caravan - but that is about it! As far as I can see we are not breaking any covenants - in fact others in the close are parking on grass driveways too.
Is there anything we can do about the neighbour - I am concerned that tennants will not stay if he continues to shout at them and cause problems. We have tried talking to him but he is adament that we do as he says and he does not want a car parked on our land apart fron the drive. We took out a large ceanothus bush that was blocking the front door and was a seriuos security risk as it would hide anyone breaking in. he has complained about the mess (which incidently was caused his kids playing in the street and running in and out of the currently empty flowerbed). We have told him that this is being worked on - but if he keeps chasing away workmen we are going to struggle to get this done in time.
Any ideas would be gratefully received!
