Century Films has told the RLA's PR agency Powell Communications about a documentary they are making for the BBC about "Cannabis Factories" - where dealers rent residential properties to grow large amounts of cannabis. They are filming, with the co-operation of the police, during October and are looking for landlords with direct experience of this problem.
They explain: "This has become a serious problem for landlords as more and more cannabis is actually grown in the UK. Dealers have been known to turn every room in the house into a jungle as they try to grow as many plants as possible. They tamper with the electricity, often damaging walls and leaving the property unsafe. Properties are returned to unsuspecting landlords in a dreadful state and unfortunately insurance companies will not pay out as it is criminal damage. Landlords are being left with bills for thousands of pounds to restore these properties."
