Hi,

we want to change use of a 2-bed house we let out to a couple to a "3-bed" house we will let out to students (one of the two reception will be changed to a bedroom).

We have called the local council, who told us to write in and explain what we are planning to do. We have done this and called them up today.

The lady we spoke to stated that if the occupants know each other/are friends we "don't need to do anything special" (her gut feel and she is seeking clarification!!). This would be the case with students.

I had read that landlords seeking to let to three or more unrelated tenants sharing after 6 April should speak to the planning departments of their local authorities and arrange to get planning permission

Not sure what to do next??
