I have three properties in Weymouth on Housing Benefit "old system" and they are trying to put down the rents allowable. We are well below the Housing Benefit Allowance for the area. This must be part of a Govt scheme to save money.
I spoke to a Rent Assessment Officer who off the record agreed that it was daft and that the tenants should go off Housing Benefit for say two weeks then re-apply and that they would then be on the new system with Housing Benefit Allowance for the area setting the maximum foir that ttype of property.
Are you aware of this and is it that simple to change from the old to the new system?
