How do we get rid a management company

There are 8 leaseholders in a converted house with 8 studio flats.
The freeholder who is a partner in a firm of solicitorsr runs the management comopany. The service charge is very high compared with the size of the flats and the services rendered. The leaseholders have not formed a company but have been paying these high charges. They are unhappy with the management company and the freeholder's arrogant stance on charges. They wish to get rid of the current management company and appoint a more firendly and cost effective managaement company
Please can you advise how they should go about it and how long it will normally take?
