Hi,

I am about to let my first property and want to get it right.

I will be giving my new tenants a 6 month AST with the expectation that the tenancy will continue for a much longer period (maybe up to 5 years). Will I need to issue a new 6 month agreement at the end of every 6 month period or is there some other wording/term which protects me from inadvertently creating an open-ended contract/sitting tenant?

Thanks for your help.
