Can we make our current tenants pay for a professional carpet clean before we show the property to prospective tenants? We told the tenants a month ago that we could not let the house with the carpets in their dirty state, but they have ignored our requests to contact us about having them cleaned. We always have an end-of-tenancy carpet clean which is usually fine for the year, but this group have made tham a real mess. Are we able to enforce a mid-term clean during our letting period, paid for by the tenants who have caused the damage? The current tenants leave at the end of august, but we have viewings and reservations during may/june for september. Quick reply appreciated!
