I let a flat on an estate managed on behalf of the freeholder by managing agents. They now ask for personal and employers references for our tenant. Can they do this? Obviously, I take out references for our tenant to satisfy ouselves that she is credit worthy, trustworthy & reliable. Surely, if I am satisfied, it is no business of the freeholder as long as my tenant complies with all conditions etc of the lease. (The freeholder charges a standard fee to allow leaseholders to sublet which we aleways pay, along with sending a copy of the letting agreement)

Thank you
