Chnages to a landlord's rights with gas and electric suppliers?

The name seems to have gone to their head. I do think N power is more hostile than other companies and they deal very poorly with tenants who are on low incomes and cannot afford to make long phone calls on their mobiles to sort out muddles. I have even seen them change estimated bills to 'actual' readings when they are in dispute.
Often you get someone helpful when you ring them but then you get someone who treats you like a criminal.
