Bought referencing/credit check through letting agent, potential tenant not compliant

I have bought marketing and referencing/credit checks via an online estate agent (urban sales and lettings) and they have asked my potential tenant (who is self employed) for his bank statements, tax details, and his accountant details and for consent to look into this. He is not happy about this. What is the minimum you suggest that I accept from him in terms of references and credit check? Many thanks, Nina Plant ([email protected])
