Check your tenant agreement, some agreements, mine included, states that the tenant is responsible for pest control:

QUOTE
Pay and arrange for the removal of all vermin, pests and insects, if infestation begins during the Term,woodworm and woodboring insects excepted, unless such infestation occurs as a failure of the Landlord
to fulfil his repairing obligations.
UNQOUTE

I personally, as a landlord, would not pay out for maintenance that my tenants carried out without discussing with me, unless of course it was an emergency and I was not contactable.
