Hi can anyone help me. I am being sued by my former tenant over harassment and the place being in disrepair the court date is set for 12th July so over a month away,

stupidly I did not respond to the claim that was sent to me and I needed to respond to the claim by 19th April but I forgot to do this. I am not sure what to do now. Do you think it is too late to respond now, or could I plead ignorance? I am really stressed over this just wondered if there is anything I can do or should I just seek legal advice
