We had a joint tenancy on an assured shorthold tenancy agreement which commenced on the 4/12/2007 now running as a periodic .About four months ago one of the tenants wrote to us stating that they were leaving .Now the remaining tenant has started paying the rent late and we are having to chase them for payment. My question is does the tenant that left have any leagal responsibility regarding the rent and utility bills , bearing in mind that we are still using the origianl tenancy agreement.
