I have told my local council that my tenant left without me knowing, and that as such I need to know if I am or the tenant ,as I do not have a notice of termination, they have replied and adviced that as the tenancy was on a 6 month AST,and that as expired therefore she was on a month to month basis,it is my responsibility to pay. They are quoting a case law ,Macattram vs LB Camden (2012),ruled that only fixed term portions of contacts could be legally binding for Council tax purposes.
