Pay as you go electricity meter

One of our tenants has approached Southern Electric to ask if she can get a pay as you go electricity meter installed. She gave them my number and Southern Electric phoned me to ask my permission, with the tenant holding on the other line. I said I would need to think about the implications before making a decision.
What I would like to know is, can the meter be removed again in the future and, if so, is there a charge for this? Is there such a thing as a landlord's meter which the landlord can fit, empty and pay the bills and then remove when required? Do you know the answer to either or both of these questions or do you know where I can find out?

Thank you.
