Gas safety certificate

My hearing date for possession is 8th October. If the judge gives the tenant 42 days or what ever, it will go beyond the date when the gas certificate has to be renewed. Other years I have asked the tenant to liase with the gas engineer to arrange a date thats convenient for them because he has never allowed us to do it in his absence. this time he might not allowe the engineeer to go and might not cooperate to get the gas cert. So what happens if he tries to sue saying there is no gas cert etc because already he is cooking up stories because he thinks he can get a lot of money from me saying I wa harassing , disrepair etc etc.
