Deposit Guard Tenancy Agreement

I have a long standing tenant (commencing 3rd year)who I am going to put onto the deposit guard scheme they were hoping for a periodic tenancy agreement, what is the minimum period of tenancy I can write into the contract? 2 months - 6 months?
