Ending a 6 month AST
Possession - Section 8 and Section 21

Hi,
We rented a property on an AST dated 1st October 2013 for 6months upto 31st March 2014.
I would like to have possession of the property back again at the end of the tenancy agreement as i intend to sell it.
Would you please advise what date I need to serve notice by and in what format please, i.e. a letter sent or should it be a section 21?
Any other advice or guidance regarding this would be appreciated.
