notice to quit
Possession - Section 8 and Section 21

Hi,
I served a section 21 to my tenant about four months ago.The AST ran out ages ago and her tenancy is just rolling on monthly. My question is do I just go ahead with filling in the court papers and start with the repossession process or do I have to serve her with a notice to quit first , before starting the possession process. If I have to serve her with a notice to quit first how long do I need to wait before I start the court proceedings.Any advice will be much appreciated.
