Hello and I hope you can help with this.
I had a tenant who left their property before the end of the tenancy agreement and gave me two days notice before they left. The tenancy agreement ended 31january 2014. They said they would pay the rent until the end of their tenancy when they left in November which I didn't believe and they never did.
I have now received a council tax invoice for the period that the tenants didn't pay their rent.
I contacted the council and explained the tenants had a tenancy until the end of January and surely I'm not responsible for their council tax as well as losing the rent for that period.
Who's liable for the council tax the tenant or me?
Hope you can advise
Regards
Sean
