Hi, Looking for a bit of advice. I am trying to buy a house in Cheltenham with a residential mortgage that has 5 bedrooms on 3 floors and is currently licensed as a HMO. I intend to live in it for 18 months then change to a BTL HMO mortgage.

I assume if I move in and have 2 lodgers I dont need to do anything and this is acceptable to the council?

If I get 3 lodgers I would need to have the council inspect the house and they may want me to get a HMO license which wouldnt work with my mortgage?
