Tenant in prison - joint tenancy - remaining tenant too young to maintain tenancy

My tenant and his girlfriend have a joint tenancy. He has now been sentenced to 36 months in custody. She is not yet 35 so will not be able to afford the tenancy on her own.

How do I go about serving notice? Anything specific with him being in custody and with it being a joint tenancy?
