Hi
I own a flat which I pay ground rent on.
I moved last year and wrote to the Ground aren't company to advise them of my new address.
I recently received a call from my mortgage company advising that i was late with my ground rent. On checking the ground rent company had not amended their records with my new address so I did not receive the annual invoice for the ground rent.
I have now received a bill for my ground rent plus legal costs.
I have written to them but they insist it Was my responsibility and should have contacted them when I did not receive my annual invoice.
Had they update their records or even contacted the management agency I would have paid the ground rent on time.
I've owned the property for 13.years and never been late with my ground rent.
Please can you let me know if there is anything I can do or if I will just have to pay the additional legal costs
Kind regards
Brenda
