Can I sell my property and give notice to my tenants if they are on a fixed term tenancy?
I rented out my property a few years, because I had a job opportunity overseas. My tenants are great and a year ago I signed a second fixed term agreement with them, which ends in January 2016. However, I was recently made aware of the pending law for overseas landlords, which will make me liable for capital gains tax if I sell after April 2015.
Since I would like to buy a property in my new country, now seems like a good time to sell my UK home.
If I let my tenant know that I would like to sell up before their tenancy agreement ends, and they don't want to leave, is there anything I can do?
