I have recently met a tenant who has paid a deposit but she has also had to pay an additional sum of money which has simply been receipted as'Re-decoration of Property'. Surely that's what her deposit was for? Has anyone else come across this scenario? And how can the tenant ensure that this additional sum of money is protected as it has not been classed as a deposit and therefore isn't protected in one of the approved schemes.
