Query re purchasing BTL with tenant in situ

Dear RLA
Please can you advise me.
I am purchasing a BTL property with a tenant in situ.
Completion should be in December.
The AST ended in June and I believe the tenancy is now on a periodic tenancy agreement.
What tenancy agreement should I be looking to set up as at completion in December please, in order to protect my - the landlord- interests and the tenants interests please?
