Hi
I have purchased a property without a mortgage, I have had a valuation on it and the surveyor was very disagreeable and stated that it had an asbestos roof, it has in fact got a asbestos mix corrugated concrete roof the same as the rest of the area of which I own another property that has a mortgage and has recently been remortgaged with no problem it was valued by another surveyor who even stated this on his paperwork, and specifically said to me that that was no problem.
The problem we have is that the mortgage company are now unwilling to lend and are asking for a full retention until the roof is upgraded and a specialist cert is obtained.
What recourse can we take, what advice would you give as we know the roof is not a problem as the same bank has agreed to lend on an identical property, and we have had advice from a rib as architect stateing this is not a problem.
Which governing body would you complain to with regards to a surveyor/values.
Regards
Chris
